Dualshock 4 to cost $10.00 more, PS4 Camera up $5.00, and Gold Wireless Headset $20.00 more expensive.
If online retail prices are to be believed, Canadians will see the second price increase in all major PlayStation 4 accessories in less than two years. Best Buy Canada now lists DualShock 4 controllers for $74.99, ten dollars more than they had been since March of 2014, and fifteen dollars more than they are in the US. The PlayStation Camera and Sony Gold Wireless Headset have been raised as well to $74.99 and $119.99, respectively.
This is not the first time Canadians have seen a price raise on PlayStation products. Last March, Sony reacted to the US and Canadian dollar exchange rate by raising the price of the PS4 from $399.99 to $449.99. Major accessories like controllers, cameras, and most games saw a five dollar price increase along with the console.
This most recent price adjustment begs the question: Is there another PlayStation 4 console price raise on the horizon? Is it too far into the console’s lifecycle for customers to accept yet another increase? How much are Canadians willing to pay for the PS4 when Xbox and Nintendo are selling their systems for $399.99 and $299.99?
