Is Digimon Adventure: 2020 Reboot Coming To Netflix?

Across certain Digimon fan communities on Instagram and Facebook, images are circulating that insist the Adventure reboot is coming to Netflix. However, there is no official source confirming this, and at the time we have to assume these images are fakes.

According to WillTheWill, Netflix Japan will in fact be getting episodes of Digimon Adventure: one week after each episode airs on Japanese television. Therefore, with a VPN set up, you could feasibly watch the show via Japanese Netflix, but there’s no reason to believe it will include English subtitles, or any non-Japanese language support for that matter.

Is Digimon Adventure: 2020 Coming To Crunchyroll?

UPDATE: less than 24 hours after publishing this article, Crunchyroll has confirmed it will be bringing Digimon Adventure: to the west.

That’s right, we now know that Digimon Adventure: will join Crunchyroll’s Spring 2020 anime lineupLaunch Time: Saturdays at 7:30pm PT starting April 4 2020. That’s approximately 10:30 PM EST.

Territories: North America, Central America, the Caribbean, South America, Europe, MENA, CIS, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa.

Seeing as Digimon Adventure Tri was a Crunchyroll exclusive in the Western world back in 2015, it would not be unreasonable to have theorized that the new reboot might be coming to Crunchyroll. Crunchyroll’s editorial website has actually written several news articles about the Digimon Adventure reboot, clearly building hype around the show.

Digimon Adventure: 2020 Reboot English Dub? Sub?

An English dub is always possible, seeing as Digimon Adventure Tri received an English dub that involved many of the original cast members reprising their roles. That said, there has been zero news on such a thing — not even Digimon Adventure Last Evolution Kizuna has an English Dub officially planned.

As of now, it seems we’ll need to wait a bit longer than the fans in Japan to experience the series in any language besides Japanese. How much will the show differ from the original? Will T.K. and Kari grow up to be a canon couple in this iteration? Who will come out on top of the Tai Matt and Sora love triangle? We’ll find out on the next exciting episode of Digimon Adventure: !

As we mentioned up top, we will update this page to include any and all news, links, and methods for Digimon fans outside of Japan to watch the new series.

New Digimon Reboot Character Redesigns Side By Side

This just in from Japan! Digimon fan twitter account Digi_Channel has posted brand new art assets from Toei animation that show all of the Digidestined redesigns for the 2020 reboot of Digimon Adventure anime series.

The characters in these assets are all striking the same poses with the same hair and facial expressions, but with slightly more modern outfits. Have a look for yourself!

Matt & Tai or Yamato & Taichi

We’ve already had a few good looks at Tai / Taichi thanks to the trailers, but look at Matt / Yamato! A purple shirt? Grey pants? SLEEVES!?

It’s a big change for sure, perhaps one intended to more closely match his Digimon’s colors?

Sora & Izzy or Sora & Koushiro

No gloves for either character? Okay, we’re noticing a trend here. I guess gloves were just too much of a ’90s thing? Apart from that, Sora’s more pinkish aesthetic definitely matches her partner Digimon. Izzy is also looking pretty fresh with a zip up hoody replacing the button up.

Mimi & Joe

These characters remain the most untouched in the 2020 reboot of Digimon Adventure. Mimi has a different colored hat and no gloves, while Joe has pants instead of shorts. Clearly Mimi’s fashion sense hasn’t changed, and Joe just probably doesn’t care about fashion.

T.K. and Kari or Takeru and Hikari

The two angels of the Digimon adventure franchise are looking more adorable than ever in the new reboot! T.K.’s got a striped shirt while Kari has a sort of jean romper / suspenders outfit going on.

What do you think of the new outfits?
